La difícil tarea de leer

Cuanto más estudiaba, más advertía que leer un texto necesariamente implica interpretarlo. Supongo que cuando inicié mi formación tenía una concepción muy poco elaborada de la lectura, a saber, que el objetivo de leer un texto era, simplemente, dejar que éste "hable por sí mismo" para descubrir el significado inherente a sus palabras. La verdad, terminé comprendiendo, es que el significado no es inherente y que los textos no hablan por sí mismos. Si los textos pudieran hablar por sí mismos, todos los que leen con honestidad y apertura un texto estarían de acuerdo en qué es lo que dice. Pero las interpretaciones diferentes de un texto abundan, y las personas en realidad no están de acuerdo siempre en qué es lo que los textos dicen.
